The last post was made during the influence of wine. Apologies to all.

I've created an insanejournal account but I don't like the look of it. Not enough people share my interests. I may try greatestjournal and see what they're like. :)

This Livejournal Policy Thing (and my scattered thoughts)

I can't talk about minors in sexual situations without artistic merit? Does this mean I can't review that Stephen Fry book that shocked me to laughter?

Huh. After I'd been inspired to write a limerick by it and everything. :F (The limerick has nothing to do with minors but a little to do with dead people.)

Seriously though. If I posted verbatim attributed quotes from things that shocked me would they delete the journal? If I drew my own picture of naked ladies covered only by one piece of cloth would they (and would it change if the naked ladies and the cloth were entangled in a sexual manner)? I want to know what their limit is. Or their definition of "artistic merit".

They seem to think art involving young fictional characters in sexual positions has no "artistic merit". That's probably true for some but surely not all of them. What if the fictional minors were in the style of another painting (and obviously had taken some effort)?

I really want to post transcripts of what I just listened to and call it Art (it could be true). Or draw a cartoon with speech bubbles of the stuff. Lol.

This weekend is very dull and the weather is not helping matters. :(

My love of men dressed as ladies is still alive and well. Lol. It seems no sketch comic can resist which is all for the good. Pity there's no room on the interest list for "men dressed as ladies dressed as men" as sometimes that describes it perfectly.

"Demonic sunglasses" can be added to that list sometime later.

At our lunch break we went op shopping today (due to disbelief at some people never having tried it). I'm notoriously difficult with shopping for clothes but I found a nice shirt I thought was okay. Bought it for three dollars. :D I also discovered my fear of knitted and bright coloured things.

I'm starting to see another side of my boss and I think I like it. Lol. It's nice to have someone as nutty as I am in the workplace. :) Otherwise I start to get a bit nervous.

I watched Hot Fuzz.

I thought it was funny and at the same time really weird. To give an example it's a bit like if Scooby Doo invaded the Village and the whole movie turned into an action film.

The two guys are so gay that they're obviously not. I may have a tiny crush on both of them.

Simon Pegg reminded me of John Simm.

There are a few deaths and one guy's head gets crushed. Or explodes. It's a bit quick but it looks very messy. :)

(Miss Peep from Tenth Kingdom was in it. I'm not sure why that makes me feel happy. Oh and Bill Bailey was as well.)

So I liked it but I kept laughing at the wrong places.

Harry Potter

It was as it should be. Except for some parts that were a bit twee. That's the short review.

My internet connection at work is FUBAR. It must have been the painters in over the weekend. All I wanted was to send one file over email.

It's ironic when a dialup connection works faster than broadband. :)

(Also LOL my copy of Vesuvius Club finally got here. Right after Harry Potter as per my prediction.)

As I said I've been busy and it got busier at the work end of things. Who figured on powercuts and other problems?

All I can say is backup generators are a lifesaver.

No rest for the wicked...

Today is busy. I think I need to think twice before volunteering to help people.

My computer's not broken like I thought it was! I'd been thinking the surge protector had fried it.

Off to delegate to someone else and earn five minutes of peace.

My feminist frame of mind has not gone away today. I found myself fuming over an article that said most women would love to be trapped on a desert island with Brad Pitt.

And then I folded up the newspaper and went back to having a nice cup of coffee. Having a life is fun because you get to put the toys away that you've thrown out of the cot and have a breather.

I don't want to talk about the current source of irritation because it requires a spoiler cut.

Speaking of Doctor Who (though not really), I think I may need one of those "beta-readers". Does anyone have any suggestions for where I could find one?

"The guy sure looks like plant food to me." :)

I love Little Shop of Horrors. :)

Enough that I made a haphazard list of thoughts. )

In retrospect this picture has relevance. ;)

As a former classmate of mine said once, "It feels uncommonly like a Friday."

All the more so because it is one. :) Go figure.

After the failed original fiction attempt I thought I'd deliberately write a Doctor Who story. So far it doesn't have a good plot but it does deal with the themes of the series. Often in unintended ways.

Do fanfiction writers have trouble making up names for aliens? Maybe the secret is to use familiar names. That doesn't work when you make up a planet integral to the story. :(

Work is lovely and stable and blissfully boring. We had a meeting today and P, our boss, praised myself and R for our work. I looked up guiltily as I'd been scribbling down aforementioned story.

There was a single boot on a fence post as I drove home. One of those things that makes the world seem a bit strange. Particularly on a Friday.

I don't know whether to call this fanfiction or not.

I wrote a story for the musemuggers community but I think it's more than a little derivative. I've seen too much Doctor Who lately.

It might have started with trying to write the excerpt. :)

Spent yesterday vomiting. Today I had a headache and spent most of the day asleep.

Somehow I don't think I'm feeling very well. ;)

Stories

Hah. For once the lack of a story is dissatisfaction while I'm typing it up rather than while writing it. I even wrote two stories for the prompts. So much for writers' block. I've got editors' block. :)

Short Update

I bought some more pens today. :) Mine always go missing.

Otherwise today was a complete write-off. The only thing I achieved was a small character profile:

"Cliff (short for Heathcliff) Rogers hated consumerism. He refused to drink Coke, never wore Nikes and stayed more than two metres away from all fast food outlets. He dressed like a berk and never ate meat in public. He still shopped twice a week at Tesco's and carried plastic bags of bagged salad greens and bottled water. Occasionally he'd slip a piece of fillet steak on the counter as casually as a boy buying his first packet of condoms. He visited thrift stores as a hobby, ignoring malls in favour of places with names like Poppins'."

It's ridiculous now I read it again. :)

Mums

It's Mother's Day!

I wished my mother a happy day, but it was overshadowed by the prodigal returning to say hello. :) That was the best point of her day.

I'm not a mother, thank goodness, so the novelty is lost on me.

I've got to organise the barbecue so my Internet time is cut a little short.

Update

I'm busy writing a story about hypnosis on my home computer. The computer people fixed it, yay! I don't have to sneakily type up documents during my work breaks any more. :)

My profile page is now updated as well. Touch wood.

Short!

I'm quite glad I joined Who Daily. Lots of people like Mark Gatiss. :)

Where are the writing communities? I suppose that goes on my to do list for today.
